It wasn't the fact that there was nothing to do, it was just the fact that there was nothing that Sylar was 'allowed' to do. He had been told by several people in the same day not to touch this, not to do that; he didn't know why he didn't just kill them and that be the end of it all, but they were Company employees, and that would have been more mess for him to clear up- because apparently he was playing janitor, aswell as 'people protector' today.
Sylar sighed, picked his coat from beside the door and left, heading into the hot, moist air and the Texas sunshine. He didn't particularly know where he was going- anywhere was better than his cell; which was decorated in a lovely grey colour, and flattered his personality ten-fold. Walking through the mingling crowds of people, for once in his life, Sylar was almost happy that no one recognised him- he didn't think he could deal with someone picking him out of a line-up and telling him what a 'monster' he was. What he needed was a walk, to clear his head, before the Company sent him off on another mission to... God knows where.
The sunlight was cascading down as Sylar found shelter under a tree. He leant against the wall lazily, finding a place to sit amongst some locals, and some tourists, surveying the scene ahead. Maybe something interesting would happen- working for the Company wasn't big excitement; it was when there was something to do, however, but now that it was just paperwork- well, Sylar's mind didn't really work like that. It was kill or be killed- usually kill, and there was no pieces of insignificant paper involved. Sighing, he brought his hand up to his eyes to shield them from the sun and looked across the street, knowing full well that someone he knew was just going to come along and ruin his already ruined day.

Addison was beyond unhappy... despite the fact she was the rookie- a position she was sure she lost years ago- she hated the paper work. She was forced to research for her first mission, she was headed to New York in a day or so and she had to read up on possible threats.
Shouldering out of the building she hated the way the company felt on her, the air was too thick and the people working with in all seemed to be hiding something, rolling her eyes she knew everyone had something to hide.
She was sure she hated Texas just as much, well at least the weather she hated. Stalking down the street she knew the best way to keep her cool and just get through this horrible situation was just to clear her head.

The heat was almost unbearable- soaking through his shirt like water through a towel, making his skin bristle a little, the hairs standing on end. Sylar hated heat, he hated the cold aswell- anything in between was fine. Sitting under the shade of the tree, leaning against the wall, watching the people mingle around was fun, in all respects, just wondering what they were thinking, where they were going, what their tiny insignificant lives were all about.
Turning his head slightly, he found a face he recognised. She was from the Company; of course, he knew her name- he knew everyone's names. Addison. However, he never really socialise with her- well, he never really socialised with anyone, but he was meant to, being a Company affiliate. He daren't go over- he couldn't really bring himself to step back into the sun, but instead he watched her- knowing full well what would happen if she spotted him. All hell would break loose, and his quiet afternoon would be ruined.

Addison must have walked far enough from the company to be at least a safe distance from it. But her blood was boiling still and her fists were clenched.
"Showing off your powers is a weakness... losing control, losing your cool is a weakness" Addison muttered softly under her breath. She hated having to repeat her fathers words but the sound of his cool and emotionless voice running through her mind was enough to steady her.
She had no idea what it was about the company that she didn't trust but there was something, the secretes made the air thick. The agents sometimes didn't seem any different from those who they were meant to be catching. Was this what her father was like, she sure in hell had seen him through rose tinted lenses for all of her life that she couldn't tell. "A weakness that won't be tolerated.... your job is in danger from weakness" The words spoken to her so many times during her training echoed around her mind once more.
With a heaved sigh she lent against a building not caring what the people around her thought. Why care when your better Her mothers voice was not better for calming her. In fact she was sure it began to boil her blood again.
Closing her eyes she took deep breaths... America was a fresh start away from her mother and father. Neither had any control over her, but as she opened her eyes she didn't feel any better... calmer yes but better no. As her eyes scanned the area around her she spotted a dark figure.... a figure she felt like she should know.

The heat was almost unbearable- that sticky atmosphere that one can only find in Texas- or perhaps somewhere else that is as hot as Texas. Sylar noticed Addison look at him; that picture of shock of trying to remember his name, and that lovely look of annoyance at whatever was wrong with her day. He knew that she would probably come over, say hello- the usual Company policy when you reunite with a collegue you've not seen for twenty minutes.
Sylar didn't know which was best, the outside; stifling, hot, sticky with too many people to count- or the Company; stifling, hot, sticky, but with not too many people, and where he could sleep; of course on show to everyone that came into Level 5, but perhaps that didn't matter. He jumped a little from the wall to the pavement and stopped at the side of the road, seemingly travelling towards the woman, although he was just going back to the Company doors.
Crossing the road, he sought shelter under some signs, but continued to walk. Perhaps the closer look would give her the extra boost to remember who he was- maybe she'd run off screaming, or might just say hello. It was a fifty-fifty gamble, and Sylar was almost dying to find out which option fate would choose.

Unsure what had made her think she knew the man now walking away Addison pushed away from the wall and frowned.
Perhaps he just worked with her or even lived around here, it wasn't like either place was small. But as he stood under the shelter of the signs Addy remembered almost kicking her self when she did. Sylar as she had heard him called, was once a level 5 prisoner but for some unknown reason was granted a get out of jail free card which she didn't understand.
One file had been locked and that had been his, why and by whom she could only guess it was the fact that some people liked to tell tales that she knew at least he was once meant to be a permanent resident within the company. Shrugging off the last of her tension she stepped away from the wall and followed Sylar's path as closely as she could before being close enough to hold a discreet conversation.
"They have you on a short leash don't they Mr. Gray, I thought some one of your... talent would have left town the moment you stepped outside the building" Addison declared watching for the familiar look of panic she was used to seeing in prisoners faces when she found something out about them.
But a small niggling voice reminded her that another people had told her was that Sylar was not what he first appeared.

The walk back to the Company doors seemed longer after his brief stay in the shade. The building looked as if it had grown legs and jumped a few metres to the right- making his journey a lot longer. Then it became even longer when he came in contact with Addison. He knew what she was like- he'd read her file. Granted, he probably wasn't meant to read her file, but he liked to know what sort of people he would never come in contact with.
When she spoke, her body only inches from his, he had to crack a smile. A sly one, crooked; he knew what she was playing at. It had happened a thousand times, and would happen a thousand more.
"I know what you're trying to do," he admitted, looking out of the corner of his eye towards her. "And it's not going to frighten me." Standing defiantly, he felt taller than every person in that street. He didn't know what her agenda was, but he would find out soon enough. If she had been sent by someone to seek him out- that she'd be recieving a lot more than just his words that afternoon.

Addy clenched her jaw at Sylar's words. She hadn't come out here because of him.
"Believe me you are the least of my problems at the moment" Addy muttered still walking in step with Sylar.
Smirking she glanced at him wondering what scared him, it would be a powerful piece of information to had at some later date.
"I heard them say you were the boogieman" Addy quipped before looking away, seeing the Company building looming. "And any good little girl and boy knows nothing scares the boogieman" Addy quipped allowing her smirk to widen into a grin.
"I don't like feeling like the people who I'm meant to be catching... the company has a way of making everyone feel like a prisoner" Addy declared forcing her hands to stay unclenched.

"Are you sure about that?" Sylar's eyes glinted; oh how he did to wind people up to the point of collapse. He might even have laughed at that point, if he was having a better day. He knew that all Company types were the same- they tried to get into your head, had secret information about you that should scare you into submission. He could kill all of them with a click of his fingers, and so little pieces of special information didn't scare him one bit.
"Yes well," he wrung his hands together behind his back. Not one of his best nicknames, he had to admit. That Molly Walker had thought it up and never dropped it. "You going to call me that too? Are you scared, like the rest of them?" He enjoyed playing with people, just as much as he enjoyed killing them, but this woman was different- she worked for the Company, he worked for the Company. Friendly fire wasn't the best thing he could do in this situation.
"The Company does many things to a person," he noted, almost inaudibly. Then he looked towards her. "You can't help it, it's always there, controlling your every move. Even going against the things that you stand for." He paused for a moment, taking in a lungful of hot, Texan air. "A serial killer in the ranks," he sighed. "And I thought that's what you were trying to eradicate."

Addy stumbled for a moment, wondering if she knew enough from the gossip to be scared of this man. Well yes they called him the boogyman for a reason but then again she was called a few names back in her days in England. Freak was the main one, but she knew that people working for the company always had a hidden side that you don't mess with.
"I don't know if I should be scared of you... for now I'm just going to treat you like most of the other serial killers the company hire. Stay the hell away from you and get on with my work" Addy offered coolly. She was afraid of only one man and he was gone.
"I call you what you what ever your going by... though Mr. Gray seems to be the best bet" Addy declared before shooting him a look. "As I would like you to call me Miss Grace" she ordered before looking back forward.
With a dry laugh she shrugged before slowing her steps not willing to go back to work just yet.
"Some think that people should be able to redeem for what they did... The company don't really want to stop the bad guys, they want to study them find out their secrets" Addy declared before she stopped and lowered her eyes. Redemption was the holy grail to some, her included.
"Then again what the company tells you what their doing could be something different from what they tell someone else. Maybe their just trying to keep that leash on you by making you think that there are hunders of people trying to stop people like you" Addy declared looking to Sylar. [/sub]
